Challenge #269 - Road Trip!

Hello I'm your hostess today with your challenge for this week. My husband and I often take Road Trips, some times close to home and other times a few hours from home. MY challenge is layout or a card of A Road Trip! Vacation layout or card. For the card I'm pretty easy and would let it be a vehicle on it too for the meaning of road or trip :) or and Home sweet Home card for getting home from a trip. Just have fun with it. Here is my layout from one of Road Trips my hubby and I take throughout the year.

Hubby and I often take road trips on the bike.

It's so good to be home again after a long trip or even a short road trip :)

Earlier this month we took a road trip from our home in suburban Philadelphia to Toledo, Ohio to visit family.  Along the way we stopped for two nights in Cleveland, Ohio.  There is so much to see and do in Cleveland. We visited the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the house from the movie, The Christmas Story. And to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary we ate at my favorite chef, Michael Symon's restaurant, Lola. Cleveland Rocks!!!

For this project, I decided to feature a picture of my children going on a "road trip" around our cul-de-sac in their Disney Princess car.

I have created a 12x12 layout documenting our latest family holiday adventure. The photos are of us at the start of our trip to a place a few hours from where we live. As you can see by our faces we were very excited to be on the road to our holiday. Check out my you tube channel over the next few days for a process video for this.

Such Great projects from the design team! We hope you can find some time to play along with us this week!

Highlights #268

Thank you all so much for playing along this week.  I had the best time reading all of the blogs with people trying new things and using old product.  There were so many great projects that I really had a hard time choosing.

Here are the highlights:

#8 Craftysahmiam
I love that she used a card she purchased a while ago to make a template to make this card!

#5 PaperSewPaint

I love this card and loved that she stepped out to try a new technique with watercolor.,  What a great background.  BTW, I do not see the mismatch in the inlaid part.  You did a great job.

#9 Bonnie Garby

I love this mini album.  Great job mastering page construction ( which I am currently working on) and love the fact that she pulled out an old paper pack from her stash to make it.

Thank you so much for everyone who played along in this challenge.  Join us tomorrow for a new challenge!

Challenge #268-Try Something New

School may be out for the kids, but that doesn't mean we crafters have to stop learning.  There are so many new products, and so many different techniques, that it is easy to get overwhelmed and not try new things.  I purchased a tutorial on making handmade albums about a month ago and looked at the number of pages in the tutorial and became overwhelmed.  On my desk that tutorial went until this challenge.  I decided to at least make the album cover in time for this challenge.  It was actually FUN!

So, since I had so much fun learning bookmaking techniques, my challenge to you is to try a new technique or use a product that you haven't use before on a project. Bonus points if the technique or product is something you purchased a while ago and haven't used.

Come on!! Let's learn together. Just because school is out, doesn't mean we crafters have to stop learning too.

My newest highlight, the beautiful Viva Las VegaStamps, plus a background stamp from Darkroom Door I hadn't used yet  ....

I had a little bit of a hard time trying to figure out what I wanted to do for this challenge but I decided to give a hand stitched title a try.  I have always loved the look when I see it on other's layouts so here is my first try at it.

Amanda
When I make cards I always just make the plain old kind folded in half. I saw this cute card online and decided to try to replicate it for my husband for Father's Day.

I used a new embossing folder by Taylored Expressions for this card.

I decided to play around with my watercolors and make some project life style cards to add to my album.

#267- Use warm, summer colors

Merry Monday everyone! Tammy here with your new challenge!  I just came back from a weekend away camping...here in Canada we always know when it's summer because everyone is camping - rain or shine!  My theme this week is to use warm sunny colors - oranges, reds, yellows, turquoise, bright green - any of those fun summer colors that just warm you inside and out!
Can't wait to see what you create and to get the mojo flowing, here is some inspiration from the DT!

For this project, I decided to go with a vintage feel using oranges, reds, yellows, and turquoises to showcase one of my favorite pictures of my daughter gardening with her dog.

For this summer project, I thought of the tropics and my granddaughter climbing a palm tree!

Amy here with a pocket page spread for this weeks challenge. I have used the Cocoa Vanilla Studio You Rock collection to make the 4x6 cards as these had some vibrant pops of the warm summer colours this challenge calls for. I then used other PL cards to fill in the blanks and pops of bright embellishments to finish this off.

Alice K.
I made a set of ATC cards with summery colors and a summery theme.

perfect colours for a pool fun page!
Happy summer everyone!

Tina
I stuck more with the oranges, reds and yellows for this page

#266 - Patterned Papers

Hello, everyone! We hope you all enjoyed our Summer Fun Blog Hop last week! It's Lori here today to bring you this week's challenge.

This week my challenge to you is to use a minimum of 5 patterned papers on your project. You can use more than 5 patterned papers, but you must have at least 5 on your project. Here is my card that I created for this challenge:

I have used exactly 5 different patterned paper on my card.

Here are the beautiful projects from the rest of the design team:

Amy.L
I created this layout using a variety of patterned papers I had left over from my May Kitaholic Kit (main kit). I used plain white cardstock as the background so as to make the paper layers pop more.

Gail

I used Kaisercraft - Barber Shoppe paper for this layout of my dad at work in the mid-1950s. Sketch is by Rochelle Spears - Scraproom.  I've also done another layout using the same products. You can check it out on my blog here.

Including the grounding pattern paper I used 5 papers plus 2 cutaparts to make a total of 7 different pattern papers (good time to use scraps on a layout :)

I managed to use 6 scrap patterned papers on this planner dashboard cover for my daughter.

Such beautiful projects from the design team! We hope you can find some time to play along with us this week!
